Nothing But Good Experiences with TD
Wow, I do see a lot of negative feedback on TigerDirect, and I mean A LOT all over the net. With this much smoke, there’s got to be a fire somewhere.
However, my personal experience with TD has been so far very positive. I’ve been buying from them over the last 2 years, and I’ve had at least 20 orders or so. Many with rebates - most of those were manufacturers rebates from Seagate… I’ve bought 6 hard drives from TD. Never a single problem with the rebates. In fact, TD rebate system has been a lot more easy and transpartent than for example outpost.com (Fry’s), or many other sites. Great prices, good with rebates, prompt shipping, good email followup. Frankly I’ve had nothing but good experiences with TD.
Now, granted, I have not had a problem with a product or shipment, and maybe TD is a nightmare once you have to deal with their customer relations, but I can’t speak to that from experience. I guess I was lucky so far. Even so, if I see a product from TD or really anyone, where the rebate is like $150 on a $200 purchase or some ridiculous thing like that, I do avoid it… just not worth the risk.
Maybe TD has really changed it’s spots? Could they have gotten better? Again, I’m not disputing people’s negative experiences, just reporting my own positive ones. Still, makes me nervous to deal with TD with all this negative feedback floating about… I don’t think all that can be put down to “customer fault” or “bitter user”, because somehow TD gets a lot more of it compared to other large sites.
Bottom line, I’ll still deal with TD, just be paranoid… until I have a bad experience, at which point, I’ll re-evaluate.
